But there are some films made by placing the brightness of the tinted film to maintain privacy in the car. However, is this tinted really worth it for our daily use? The answer is yes. Because it not only prevents heat from entering the car but can reduce the glare from the scorching sun during the afternoon or peak hours in the evening. The answer is yes. Because it not only prevents heat from entering the car but can reduce the glare from the scorching sun during the afternoon or peak hours in the evening. Some use it to protect their hands from the dark when holding the car steering wheel. But you have to remember, even though you can darken the tinted, it doesn't mean that the tinted is completely dark to the point of not being visible at all. Only the back is completely dark. For the front part which is only a few percent allowed by JPJ.

According to the JPJ act for light transparency rules, for the front mirror only 70%, for the front side mirror only 50%, and for the rear side mirror and rear mirror and can put the darkest. If you don't want it to be too dark, you can ask to give the percentage according to your convenience.

If you use a darkly tinted front, you can be sued and pay a fine of RM300 and remove the dark tint on the front.

Malaysians who intend to use tinted mirrors in their vehicles must first submit an application to the JPJ and the following are the groups eligible to make this application:


HEALTH Based Application

SECURITY Based Application

HEALTH Based Application

Owners of the company or private vehicles who apply must send along the original medical report by a Physician from a Government/Private Hospital

Applicants must bring Company registration form 24 and Form 49 (for companies) certified by the registered Company Secretary

For this type of application, the Application Fee and Approval Fee are not charged to them

SECURITY Based Application

For this type of application, the applicant must bring the following documents for the application:


(i) Privately owned vehicles of individuals / private companies:

Supporting documents such as police reports or other supporting documents related to security risks faced (for individuals)

Company registration form 24 and Form 49 (for companies) certified by the registered Company Secretary

Application fee of RM 50.00

Certificate of Approval fee of RM 5,000.00 after receiving a notification letter of the application for the approval of the use of dark glasses

(ii) Government-owned/Government-rented vehicles:

Letter of application from the Secretary General of the Ministry / Director General of the Department;

Application Fee is charged as much as RM 50.00) Application Fee is charged as much as RM 50.00

(iii) Vehicles owned by Embassy / Embassy staff:

Application letter from the Embassy

An application fee of RM 50.00 is charged

Certificate of Approval fee of RM 5,000.00 after receiving a notification letter of the application for the approval of the use of dark glasses
